Your Simple Daily Pleasures

A few weeks ago, I wrote about the importance of simple daily pleasures (When life gives you lemons..).  We all have them, but often don't realize what an impact they have on our lives.  I think that by sharing them we remind ourselves that it is really the small things that bring us joy on a day to day basis.  I asked some of you to share some of your daily pleasures.  Here is what you said:

"Working on my garden.  The first thing I like to do when I get home from work is head into the back yard and check on my veggie and flower garden.  So much can change in a day and I love getting to see what is blooming and pick the veggies." - Sandi B Bakersfield, CA How do you unwind after a long day?

"Being immersed in a book that touches me and teaches me something about life" - May Z. Toronto, ON What books have you read lately that have inspired you?

"The feeling of my head hitting a fluffy pillow" - Stacey S. Toronto, ON

"I like to treat myself to a really good snack or lunch.  It doesn't have to cost a lot, but a good quality coffee, sandwich, fritatta, cookie or pint (if you are going for the liquid lunch) gives me a lift if I am having a crummy day or will keep a good day going.  A small pleasure a day reminds me that it is important to take care of ME!" - Mish T. Toronto, ON  What is your favourite treat? One of mine is reading Michelle's blog!  Check it out: Mish's Playground

"Waking up to no chores and no plans.  Just a wide open day to do whatever you want with whomever you want."  - Shelina S, London, UKWhat would you do with a wide open day?

All of the women above are beautiful, intelligent, successful women who see the beauty in small things - and that is why I love them!  Keep sharing your simple daily pleasures - don`t keep those life-living secrets to yourself!

PS.  One of my daily pleasures is to wake up earlier than I have to, drink a hot cup of coffee and take some quiet time for myself - to read, email friends, or just sit.

More from Sandi B:

"End your day with a warm bath.  You feel refreshed, relaxed, and ready for bed."

"Taking a few moments to have coffee with my husband in the morning instead of rushing out the door.  We don't get to do it everyday, but I cannot get over the difference in my mood after we have had the opportunity to wake up and enjoy a few moments before heading to work."

More from May Z:

"Being with the people I love"

"Getting lost in a movie"

"Swimming in the sea"

"Eating a watermelon in the summer."

"A good night's sleep followed by a workout early in the morning"

"Meditating"

More from Shelina S:

"Eating popcorn while I work.  I feel I'm pulling a sneaky one since you only ever eat popcorn at the movies."

"Hot bread"

"Long, steaming hot shower, especially after the gym.  This is the only time I don't consider the environment - oops!"
