Fiorio…You Should Go

The experts say you are supposed to cut your hair every 3-6 months in order to keep it healthy and polished. I got my hair cut yesterday after 10 (yes, 10!) months. My last cut was a tad traumatizing (as far as a haircut can be traumatizing) so needless to say I was nervous as I walked into my appointment at Fiorio on Cumberland St in Yorkville, Toronto.

I was greeted warmly and handed a menu card from which to choose a beverage - mineral water, an espresso drink, or herbal tea. After requesting a cappuccino, I was asked whether I would like chocolate or cinnamon dusted on top. It is all about the small details.

By chance, Nomi was available to be my hairstylist that day. Nomi took the time to ask me about how often I cut my hair (and didn't balk when I told him it had been 10 months!), how I like to wear it, how often I wash and blow dry it, and whether I had a vision for it. He then carefully looked at my hair type and face shape and made a recommendation, explaining why he thought it would suit me. As he started cutting, he spoke so passionately about the creativity and art behind hairstyling that I knew my hair was in the right hands.

As Nomi moved on to styling, he explained what products were best for my hair and passed on many tips on styling that I had never heard before. I left feeling great, not just because of a fab hairstyle, but because the whole morning had been a wonderful experience.
