Fall is just around the corner and while we are not ready to let go of summer just yet, some of us are still secretly excited about all the warm, cozy and fresh fall fashions we saw on the runway. That brings us, however, to a dilemma: how do we translate that stylized, high end look we love to our real life wardrobes? Here are some suggestions on how to interpret your favourite runway looks using outfits from one of my favourite fall collections courtesy of Dolce and Gabbana
- A+B+C+D = Cute Outfit - Sometimes it is just a matter of deconstructing a look and building a formula: Skinny Jeans + Graphic Tee + Plaid Shirt + Silk Scarf = hot new fall outfit!
- Mix things up - Take a cue from the stylists and mix things up a la Carrie Bradshaw. This takes a balance of strong intuition and courage but is well worth it when you get it right. Make plaids look fresh by mixing them with stripes, wear a Russian-hippie inspired blouse with tailored black trousers, and pair unexpected colours like brown with grey, and navy with black for a fresh take on a classic colour palette.
- Pair High with Low - This is one of my favourite ways to get the most out of dressier pieces in your wardrobe. Belt a prim and proper dress with an old leather belt, wrap a cozy cardigan around a chiffon dress, and pull out your most extravagant jewelry and wear it to the office with a cashmere sweater and denim trousers.
