I had a hole in the toe of my tights today. I realized it just when I was leaving the house, and considered changing them, but was running late so did not. On my commute to work, all I could feel was my toe sticking through my tights into my winter boots. Funny, I know, but so annoying. It plagued me all day. In my mind I pressed rewind and changed my tights before leaving the house resulting in an irritation-free (albeit slightly delayed) day. Now, some may say, let it go! Don't sweat the small stuff! True, but I also believe, if its broken, fix it! Small annoyances can have big impacts on our day. There are many things we cannot control, but many others we can. Think about it: your travel coffee mug leaks, your top rides up, your handbag won't stay on your shoulder, and yes, a hole in your tights. Isn't it worth the time and effort it takes to repair or replace something that has an impact on your day? Take a moment and consider what irritates you and today, do what you can to change it. Buy a new coffee mug, give away that too-small top to charity, and buy a handbag with longer straps. Small things can make a big difference.
When I got home today, I immediately threw out those tights and scoured my drawer for other holey hosiery. I am ready to start tomorrow on the right (and warm and covered) foot.

I used to keep a plain spare pair in the drawer at work. Because, inevitably, I'd have to go out to a client meeting and I'd snag myself on my desk or something. I don't miss those days at all!
Thanks or the comment Deborah! That is a great idea!
What do you usually do to repair a small hole in your tights? I have a pair of Donna Karan Velvet Melange Heather tights that are one of my favorites... but I noticed a very tiny hole on the bottom heel of one foot. That's it, no other holes. I don't want this to open up and force me to toss them. What's the best way to fix this kind of hole in tights? I've used clear nail polish to touch up a snag on pantyhose, but that's usually just a stop-gap measure to get the hose through the day (and toss out that night). Thanks for any suggestions!
