About & Contact

In Life & In Fashion is about creating a life you love with style and grace.KP070_smaller

Life is way too short to spend it dwelling on your weaknesses, living in self-doubt, allowing your fears to guide you and generally selling yourself short.  This blog is about loving yourself enough to look your most awesome, design a life that you can’t wait to wake up to every day and find happiness & fulfillment regardless of the challenges life inevitably brings along with other bs you can’t control.

What I’m About

I'm Kena, and I am the author of this blog.  I've had my own weekly style column for T.O.Night newspaper, and have contributed to the website Pretty Savvy, among others. I have also been featured on the popular blog Dress, Design & Décor, as well as the website Chick Advisor.

I am a style maven having worked for brands like Old Navy, Banana Republic and Joe Fresh Style as a fashion buyer and having put together creative outfits for myself and my friends from limited wardrobes since I was a wee kid.

But most of all, I am a student of life.  I am passionate about how to make this life the best it can be through beauty, style, self-awareness and the choices we make on an everyday basis.  I believe that fulfillment is within our reach.

Fulfillment: Satisfaction or happiness as a result of developing one’s ability or character.

How beautiful is it that the key to a full life is being your BEST YOU?

What I Live By:

  • I believe the right clothes/home/things CAN make you feel more like you and the "you" you WANT to be.
  • I believe in the Law of Attraction - if you believe good things are coming to you, they will.
  • I believe that you are the knight on the white horse. Nobody can save you or make things better for you but you.
  • I believe that small things make up a beautiful life.
  • I believe you should never stop learning or growing.
  • I believe everyone is creative.
  • I believe in asking for/getting help when you need it.
  • I believe you can still talk to people you love even after they leave this world.
  • I believe in asking for what you want.  What's the worst that can happen?
  • I believe in doing more of the things that make you happy.
  • I believe you have it in you.

Hey Kena,

I love your blog as well.. keep up the great work. I'm visiting Toronto the end of the month. Any fav shopping places you could recommend? Im considering buying a coach purse if I can get one within my budget. Also, any stylish shops that cater to a more curvy figure. ( ie my butt is huge!) lol

take care,
Krista

Hi Krista,

You have no idea how happy that makes me! Thank you. There is a Coach store at Yorkdale Mall which is a great place to hit all the main stores. As for pants...I honestly would say Gap, Banana and Club Monaco are my favourites - they put a lot of research into fits for all sizes so they are a good bet!

I was invited to your fan page on Facebook and ended up here. I'm not sure if you remember me, but I was Anika's best friend for several years in St. John's. I used to read your BSC books and be bratty (actually, I am still very much a brat. Ha).

I love your writing, and I will surely start from the very beginning. Take care.

P.S. Joe Fresh is awesome and underrated.

Hi Kena,
I like your blog, I lived in oversea and occaionally back in Canada.
Very agree with you that we should add life to everyday living. when face problem , deal with it and move on , when you find happiness share it and laugh about it for 30 sec. when you find love, keep it and energize it.

how do you deal with clothing that is last few seasons that only wear 1-2 times? My waredrobe has space limit, it seems very weir if I give away to salvation army because the clothes are too trendy.
